Keraton Surakarta Hadiningrat

Architectural Luxury

Surakarta Palace / keraton Surakarta was one of an exotic building in its era.

One of the architects was Pangeran Mangkubumi / Mangkubumi Prince (later become Sultan Hamengkubuwono I) who was also the main architects of Yogyakarta Palace / Keraton Surakarta.

That is why it is not surprising that the standart of these two palaces (Yogyakarta and Surakarta) are almost same.

Surakarta Palace / Keraton Surakarta which we saw right now was no developed together in 1744 - 45, but it was developed step by step by paying attention to the standart of the land mark of the same standart in the beginning.

The biggest restoration was done by Susuhunan Pakubuwono X 1893 - 1939.

Most of the bulding has white color tone and blue tone with the mixture of javanesse style.
