Ancol

Since 17th century, Ancol had already become a tourism resort. The beach was very beautiful, clean and strategic, because its location near the center of the city, therefore there were many Dutch elites owned villas there. Even the Governoor General of Dutcj Colonial Adrian Valckenier, set up a beautiful villa in Ancol Beach.



Due to long lasting war between Indonesia and the Ducth colonial, Ancol area was demolished. Ancol which was a good place for rest changed to be slum and dirty. This was due to the concentration of Indonesian people at that time on war winning on The Dutch Colonialism
Not only Ancol became slum area and dirty, the mud from Ciliwung river also polluted Ancol beach, so Ancol was getting dirty and dirty and it was forgotten by many people. However, after the war was over, our first President, Mr. Soekarno, saw Ancol’s potency as a tourism resort. He appointed Jakarta City Administrative under governor Haj Soemarno Sosoatmodjo to develop Ancol to be a tourism resort.
The President was very stick on his decision to make Ancol as a tourism resort, although some parties wanted to make it as an industrial area. President Soekarno’s plan to develop Ancol as a tourism resort was stated in President Decision (KEPRES) on End December 1965.

It’s long time to set up Ancol became a tourism resort, because the development of this tourism resort was just realized on Governor Ali Sadikin. For the first step of this mega project development was done by PT Pembangunan Jaya under Ir Ciputra.
In the first step of it’s development, marked by the presence of Car Theatre on 1970. And right now Ancol is growing with the presence of Sea World, Ice World, Dream World etc. Ancol is one good place for recreation of Jakarta even Indonesians.
